Week Two: Settling In

This week has felt steady. The everyday routine and patterns of the students have begun to set in. After three and a half years of chaotic days and uncertain schedules from day to day, I welcome such a routine.
Before my student teaching, I had the privilege of completing three clinical field experiences through Ashland. A huge difference between those great experiences and this one is that I am present in the classroom all day, every day. This helps me get to know students exponentially faster, which has been a true joy. I love getting to know each of my eleven students' personalities.
I have been able to lead the "morning meeting" each morning where I review school building expectations and the lunch menu. I complete an emotional check-in with each student and complete a few Heggerty phonics exercises. Additionally, I was able to do some small group instruction.
This weekend I was able to visit the Cleveland Museum of Art with my cousin! We had a great time admiring different avenues of art and wondering about their creation.
